The Fall Checklist Every European Car Owner Should Run Through

  • Turn signals: These are easy to forget until you need them and they fail. Walk around the car and verify all four corners.


Then move to your wipers and windshield:


  • Wiper blades: Florida's UV exposure degrades rubber faster than most climates. If your blades are leaving streaks or chattering, replace them now before the heavier fall rain season.
  • Washer fluid: Keep it full. A dirty windshield at dusk with oncoming headlights is a genuine safety hazard.
  • Glass clarity: Check for interior film buildup on the windshield. It diffuses light and worsens glare from the lower sun angle typical of fall mornings and evenings.


Wildlife on Pinellas County Roads Picks Up in the Fall

White-tailed deer in the northern Pinellas and Hillsborough areas become significantly more active in the fall as breeding season begins. Armadillos, raccoons, and Florida's own coyotes are also more active at dawn and dusk. Along the barrier islands and coastal corridors between St. Pete Beach and Indian Shores, sea turtles are finishing nesting season, and shorebirds gather in large groups near road edges.


Drive with your full attention during low-light hours, reduce speed on roads that border green space or water, and give yourself longer stopping distances than you think you need. European sport sedans and SUVs often have shorter stopping distances than their drivers expect, which is an advantage when you use it intentionally.
